Playing with New Goodies

I was just dying to jump in and play with the new Echo Park, For the Record line of paper. It has been sitting on my desk for two days and I couldn't wait to finish other projects so that I could get my hands on it. Last night, I was giddy as a school girl cutting and gluing down all of this goodness. I created this layout below.

I had scrapped these photos before, but I didn't like the results, so I decided to do them again. So, what new goodies are you just dying to play with? Come on, what are you waiting for?

Sketchy Thursdays Weekly Sketch

This week, I pretty much followed the sketch to a tee. It was a simple sketch and I love how quickly my layout came together. I have been wanting to scrap these photos for a while.

He really is a momma's boy dog, which is why I love these bones so much. I use them to get some work done.

Sketchy Thursdays April DT Challenge

Today's layout was done using the sketch from here. It started like this, last week I was painting something green and I laid the paint on a kit protector, so that I could roll the paint on my project. When I was done, I pressed the clear protector onto a sheet of card stock and let it dry. I had know idea what I would use it for.

Until this challenge. For this call, you had to use the colors pink/green or red/turquoise, hearts, and a list of something/one you love. These pictures were up on my desk so when I saw the pink bandanna, well, it fit.

I cut the heart out of canvas, inked it, then stamped my design. I lined the edges with Stickles and pop dotted it to the page. I also added Stickles to the other two hearts on the layout. The title is just Thickers and the journaling was printed on the computer and cut into strips. I inked the edges and viola'- DONE!

Valentine's Treats

After taking a few sick days off, I worked this morning on the godchildren's Valentine's treats. (thanks, Mish!) We always try to give them something little since we have 5.

I cut paper down to size and put them in clear bags with flaps. I filled the bottoms with shreds and put in 4 different themed pencils. I tied the bows and stuck in one blow pop (since they aren't allowed much candy) and finished it off with a tag stamped with sentiment. Small, simple, affordable , but just enough to know they are loved.

Blog Award

Today, I am feeling a little under the weather and much to my surprise, I opened up my e-mail to this:

I received a special blog award from Mary Pat Siehl. It is the love blog award. The rules for the award are as follows:

If you have been tagged and want to participate, create a post where you add the above 'LOVE BLOG' image, then link back to me and let me know that you accept the award. Choose 3 - 5 favorite blogs which you also link in your post, then each blogger will inform you that they have been tagged. (Try to chose bloggers with less than 100 followers to help spread the word about the great blogs you love.)

So here are the blogs that I want to pass the love to:

1. Michelle Wooderson
2. Hilde
3. Joni Parker

These 3 ladies inspire me each and every day. Michelle keeps me rolling in ideas for treats and small gifts. Hilde's layouts are breathe taking. I just love her vintage style and all of the details she puts into her work. And Joni's style is so much like my own that visiting her blog is like visiting an old friend.

I hope you take the time to visit each of these blogs and see their work for yourself.

From the Scraps

After creating yesterday's layout, I was about to clean up when I decided to use the scraps to make something quick. Since V-day is coming up, I made a quick little treat box for my sister. It holds 3 Ghirardelli chocolate squares. I dyed the crocheted flower with Glimmer Mist. I am going to add a crinkly bow to the top once the ink is dried.

I still had some paper left over, so then I quickly whipped out a card to match. It felt good to not waste any of the paper that I had paid for and I didn't have much left to clean up. And a added bonus is that I now have 2 little gifts to give.

Sassafras Layout

I actually found time to scrap this weekend in between washing clothes and cooking. I have been wanting to use this line from Sassafras for a few weeks now. I love the colors and embellishments in this collection.

On this page, I used both premade and homemade embellishments. I crocheted the 2 larger flowers and dyed them to match with glimmer mist. One of the border strips is actually the bar code for the paper that I cut off and used the backside. The letters are fabric Thickers that I also dyed using the glimmer mist. I had so much fun customizing my embellishments that I can see making more flowers in my near future.
