Another Card

I have another project featured today over at Scrap Our Stash challenge blog. I used my Cricut to cut the shamrocks and pop dotted them to the shadowed background for added dimension.

The colors are a little off bit. It was difficult to photograph because even with natural light, the foil paper kept reflecting badly.

A Sew Special Card

I made this card using some of the leftover papers that I had from this project. While I had all of the supplies out, I decided to make this to give with one of the bottlecaps, or to send to a friend who likes to sew.

I like when I can use up scraps and make something worth giving at the same time. (Sorry for the shadowy photo. It was cloudy here when I took it.)

Tart Tin Project

I purchased these Jenni Bowlin's tart tins, with no intention on what I was going to do with them , other than the fact that they were cute. I was sure they would find their way into an altered art piece.

A few days later, they were still on my desk while I was working on another project, and a lightbulb went off. I remembered seeing all of the 3 tiered baskets sitting on scrap room desks and I thought, why not? I drew up a sketch of what I wanted for my dh, and a few days later, this is what I had.

Is this so adorable or what? I can imagine all kinds of tiny trinkets that can be put in the little tins. How about some small candies for late night scrapping? I can see more of these in my future. I sure hope dh doesn't mind. lol...

SOS Guest DT Layout

I was picked to be a guest DT memeber for the month of March over at Scrap Our Stash. This month's challenge was to dust of something that has been sitting around unused.

Well, anybody that knows me knows that I have a love/hate thing going on with my Cricut Expression. I love to complain about it because I really hate using it. I have hardly touched it in the year and a half that I have had it. So, this challenge was the perfect excuse for me to sit down and learn how to use this thing.

To begin, I posted about my Cricut plight on Two Peas in a Bucket where this lovely pea pointed me in the direction of a you tube video that she thought would help. (thanks to this Pea, whomever you are) I watched the video twice, and with the help of my 12 year old Godson, I was up and running.

For this layout, I wanted to create a title that was welded together, and would be one piece when I was done. I learned to nudged, kern, weld, adjust, and curse all at once. After about 9 tries, this is what I ended up with.

I cut the title out of pp, which took a few tries to get the edges to cut cleanly. I had to adjust pressure and speed and whatnot.  I can tell you with all honesty that I love how the title came out. I punched, distress, and shaped the flowers with water until they were how I wanted them. When dried, I added fabric brads to the centers.

What I have learned during this challenge was that technology isn't so bad. Will I use the Cricut and the software again? I already have; 4 more times. Will it make my scrapping faster and easier? Probably not. Do I think this gadget is worth it for me in the end? Well, since it was a gift, and I don't buy cartridges, the intial investment is already done with. So for me, my Cricut Expression is finally a keeper!

Characters

I am glad I took photos yesterday of a few things that I want to share with you this week, because this morning I woke up to dark skies and rain, which is suppose to continue through tomorrow afternoon. I also am stuck in bed with back pain, so today really isn't shaping up to be a good one.

I just love these photos of my daughter and her beau. I wanted the photos to really be the focus, so I tried to keep the layout simple, which was difficult this time around, because for some reason I kept wanting to through a little more on there. I actually removed a couple of things out from around the title.

I think the papers and embellishments are from last year's Basic Gray Eerie collection. It felt good to use some older stuff. Besides, I really need to make room for all of the new stuff that I have been bringing home, lately. I have it all stacked in a giant pile, with more coming every day. I just love the weeks after CHA!

Weekend Play Date

I finally had 2 whole days to just play around, with some of my new goodies, that I have been buying lately. First up, I used the giant Maya Roads bottlecaps and the adorable, little spools to create these two ornaments. I still need to add the ribbon at the top so they can hang.

I wrapped the spools with embroidery floss and I made mock bolts of fabric using cardstock and pp. I pop dotted some embellishments to give the piece dimension. The papers are from the Material Girl line by Cosmo Cricket.

I need to take photos today of the other things I worked on. Stay tuned tomorrow for what's next!

A Simple One

Just a quick layout I was able to throw together this weekend. I didn't really have much time to get too involved in this one. At least I did find a little time to play.

I have been busy trying to get things ready to start up my etsy store. I am a little behind since my lss picked up the first batch of embellishments that I had made. I am nervous about all of it, but I am having a great time taking on this new adventure.
